1.

Dutuga appears to be the same as the word rendered into Pali as Duṭṭa in the name of the national hero of the Sinhalese and interpreted as meaning wicked. As I have pointed out elsewhere, the word has to be connected not with Skt, duṣṭa, but with dhṛṣṭa, ‘daring, brave’. Duṭaga may be Dhṛṣṭa with the addition of the ka suffix, or Dhṛṣṭaga, going forward with daring or courage’,
